Planning a school visit to the Palais des Glaces
Ice sculptures can prompt observation of shapes, transparency and light. The suggestions here are for teachers to use themselves, not workshops offered by the event.
By the Avignon en fête team. Updated .
Choose a simple learning activity
Before the trip, ask pupils to compare transparent and opaque materials. During the visit, they could observe a silhouette, one small detail and the effect of coloured light on ice. A drawing or short piece of writing afterwards can bring together their observations. No teaching pack or education facilitator has been announced.
Confirm group arrangements
Provide the year group, pupil and accompanying adult numbers, preferred date and access requirements. Ask about capacity, the route, group movement and payment. The school remains responsible for planning and supervising its trip. Sending an enquiry does not take the place of a confirmed booking.
Before you go
- Choose an observation activity suited to the class.
- List pupils and accompanying adults separately.
- Confirm admission and transport before departure.
